  • TCM ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is a primary form of treatment in TCM, and involves an extensive meridian system containing numerous acupuncture points. The treatment is performed by inserting fine, sterile needles into acupoints on the body to access the fascia or connective tissue network. Upon insertion of the needles, the acupoints are stimulated, and the patient will often experience sensation, which refers to feelings of distention locally or radiating along the meridian. The needles are then retained for a period of time. Acupuncture is proven to be most effective for pain and musculoskeletal disorders, as well as other illnesses including, but not limited to, neurological, respiratory, gastrointestinal, gynecological, and cardiovascular illnesses. Offered by Erin and Adrien.

    5-ELEMENT ACUPUNCTURE

Instead of treating only symptomatically, 5E treats the entire constitution of a person. In treating the constitution, we address the weak link where the body, mind, and spirit tend to become imbalanced. We diagnose in terms on Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood. It is believed that this weak link is the root of most disease. Generally fewer needles are used and the needles are not retained for more than a few minutes. Offered by Erin.

    SPORTS MEDICINE ACUPUNCTURE

Sports Medicine Acupuncture (SMA) incorporates principles and techniques from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western Sports Medicine to assess and treat the patient’s injury from a true integrated perspective. SMA uses functional anatomy, range of motion testing, orthopedic examinations, manual muscle testing and palpation to identify the injured tissues. Postural and concomitant muscle imbalances are assessed through static and functional movements which guide the practitioner to understand how and why the injury occurred. Offered by Colin.

  • Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) had been used for thousands of years and uses a combination of botanicals together in formula. Unlike other forms of herbal medicine, the spirit of TCM lies within the synergy of a blend of herbs, and this is done with a precise prescription.Typically prepared in powder form, the prescription is taken by dissolving in warm water 2-3 times per day. Offered by Adrien.

  • This treatment uses glass suction cups to release connective tissue, decrease local inflammation, and relieve pain. The technique itself seems archaic, but people who have stubborn musculoskeletal complaints often report immediate relief. Offered by Erin, Adrien and Colin.

  • The practice of stimulating specific points on the body with massage rather than needles. Acupressure is not as effective as acupuncture but is a wonderful option for children or people with an adverse reaction to needles. Offered by Erin.

  • This is the practice of applying heat to certain acupuncture points before needling or while needles are in place. The heat is an herbal heat from a form of Chinese sage or Artemisia. We can use the herb to warm the skin directly, or a “moxa” stick can be used to warm the area or channel. Offered by Erin and Adrien.

  • Naturopathic Medicine is a well-proven medical approach that draws from a wide history of natural medical traditions and the latest research. The main principle is that the body has an inherent power to maintain health and restore itself. Naturopathic physicians use methods that pose the least amount of harm to the patient. They follow a therapeutic order, which starts with the least invasive, such as lifestyle changes, and leads to the most invasive, such as surgery. This allows your body to heal as it was programmed. The physician’s role is to educate the patient so the patient has control over their own health. This is key for all of us to remember to take charge of our own health and look at physicians as teachers who can direct but our health is ultimately in our own hands. It reminds us to take responsibility and ownership of our own health.

We have carefully selected practitioners with a high level of expertise in their area.
